Lincoln Vulcans Swimming Club is celebrating further success after an outstanding series of wins in the Lincoln Water Polo and Team Swimming League (LWPTSL) Squadron Relay Gala that took place in Gainsborough.

Competing against Louth, Grantham, South Lincs, Trenton Dolphins, Lincoln Pentaqua A and B teams and LVSC B team, the Vulcans' A squad maintained their reputation as the squad to beat.

Earlier in the year, the Lincoln Vulcans A team had been the resounding winner of the Leagues with a total of 244.5 points ahead of CASA 208 points in second and Louth 183 points in third.

So it came as no surprise that the Vulcans A team achieved an outstanding 15 out of 16 first places at the Squadrons Gala with the B team also taking second spot on more than one occasion.

Vulcans A and B teams dominated the Under-10s and Under-12s girls Freestyle relays with both first and second spots.

The relays swum in the Under-10, Under-12 and Under-14 and Open age groups for both boys and girls were also an opportunity for the club's swimmers to demonstrate the progress they have already made this season.

The swimmers in the newly formed National Age Group Squad (NAG) and National Age Development (NAD) Squad displayed a number of high quality performances.

Under swimming laws, official times can only be recorded for the first leg of a relay, however when all times were analysed, the Vulcans' swimmers clocked an amazing 38 personal best times.

Notable performances were made by eight swimmers with personal best times: Jamie White (Open B), Beth Penford (Open B), Leanne Roe (Open B), Kate Jolly (14/U B), Jack Buttery (12/U B), Steven Dakin (10/U B), Owen Green (12/U A), and Gabrielle Vickers (12/U A).

Vulcans' coaches Jude Stephenson–Ganner and Nigel Oldham were extremely pleased with their squad.

"We are all excited about the relay results as next weekend we head to Liverpool with the younger swimmers for the Junior League Northern Final," said Oldham.

"The racing this weekend has been an excellent opportunity for the younger swimmers to gain confidence under race conditions for next weekend's big event."

Lincoln Vulcans is a Swim 21 performance club which welcomes swimmers who wish to develop their competitive swimming abilities.

A progressive training programme based upon the ASA Long Term Athlete Development framework underpins the ethos of the club.
