Mark Hudson on the brink of leaving Gainsborough Trinity for Grimsby Town
Little is resigned to being without the highly-rated player for tomorrow's trip to Gloucester City in the Blue Square North (3pm), with Hudson due to become new Mariners manager Neil Woods' second signing and go into the club's squad for the League Two match against Macclesfield.
The former Rotherham and Chesterfield player joined Trinity in late September after being released by Championship side Blackpool after playing just one Carling Cup match.
The 29-year-old netted three goals for Trinity, including the winner in the 1-0 win over Gloucester at the Northolme last month and the opener in Trinity's last league match, the 1-1 draw with Harrogate Town.
Little said he was pleased with the contribution Hudson made in his short time with the Blues.
"We're disappointed to lose him, but we knew we wouldn't be able to get him on a contract," said Little.
"I know if I was managing a League One or League Two club I'd have been having a look at him because of his pedigree.
"He's a good player and he's done well for us and never let us down.
"He's always given us 100 per cent and has been a good influence with the rest of the lads in the changing room."
Little said he is looking to bring in some new players but said it is not easy.
"We're actively looking for new players to bring in, but we want to bring in players who are better than we have already got," he said.
"The fans are calling for me to make signings, but the situation with Mark Hudson shows how hard it is, because lots of clubs are looking to sign players at the moment and good players are going to be snapped up by league clubs."
