Goalkeeper Scott Russell returns to football with Lincoln Moorlands Railway
Russell, who has recently moved to Lincoln, was a professional at Hereford United before he succumbed to serious ankle and groin injuries that forced him to retire.
However, following a recommendation from work colleague and Moorlands striker Lee Beasley to manager Darren Dye, Russell was back between the sticks on Saturday following regular stopper Leigh Herrick's move to Bottesford Town.
"Scott has not played for a while but he came in on Saturday and did ever so well," said Dye.
"He is a big lad, about 6ft 4ins and he is carrying a bit of weight – he said to me that he needs to shed a couple of stone – but he did nothing wrong at Maltby."
Tom Garrick (pictured) had given the visitors a first-half lead but Gleeson struck five minutes from time when the ball was deflected from Russell's parry and past covering defender Ryan Creane – the goalkeeper having saved the striker's initial shot.
"Their goal was a bit fortuitous and we played really well," said Dye.
"We passed the ball well and created a number of chances."
