Alex Lowes eager to impress on home soil

Thursday, December 17, 2009, 06:30

Ambitious racer Alex Lowes knows exactly what he would like for Christmas.

The Lincoln teenager is waiting for conformation in the next few days on whether or not he will be riding in the British Superbike series for the 2010 season.

After almost two seasons in Italy, racing with MV Augusta in World Superstock, Lowes is hoping to secure a ride with PR Racing Yamaha in British Superbikes, which resumes at Brands Hatch on April 3-5.

The 19-year-old, whose twin brother Sam will be racing in the British Supersport series next season, has already been testing with the team and is confident of getting the seat.

"I joined the team at Mallory Park for some testing and it seemed to go really well," he said.

"The weather was miserable but I enjoyed riding the bike, it felt good. Although you can never be sure, I think I will be getting the ride.

"I am hoping to be joining up with the team again in Jerez in Spain next month for more testing. I'm sure the weather will be better over there in January than it is here."
