Dominant Callum puts himself out of reach in title race

Callum Sutton has virtually secured the Tattershall Kart Club Championship in his rookie season.

The 13-year-old kart racer, from Boston, has put himself out of reach of his rivals with another dominant display at the Lincolnshire circuit.

In three heats and a grand final, Callum swept the board with four wins out of four to leave his dad David once again amazed at his progress.

"For someone in his first year in a kart there's no way he should be doing as well as he is doing," said David.

"I don't mean to be disrespectful to anyone, but it would not surprise me if people were a little bored with him winning.

"It wasn't even as if he started all the races at the front of the grid. In some races he had to come through the field and overtake loads of other drivers to get to the front and take the chequered flag."

Callum is now at the top of the Tattershall driver standings with 196 points to his name.

In the championship race at PFI International circuit near Grantham, Callum has missed four rounds but is still in the top 10.

"My biggest regret of this season is that I sent him out with the wrong tyre pressure at the PFI meeting," David added.

"He really had no right to do well in that event because of the standard and the experience of the other drivers.

"But he could have and would have won the race if he'd had softer tyres."

Callum has two further meetings at PFI, Tattershall, Fulbeck and Shenington before the end of the season.
