Breaking news: Kevin Hammond will get re-match with Concepcion

Friday, February 05, 2010, 21:42

Kevin Hammond will be handed a re-match against Martin Concepcion for the Midlands Area light-middleweight title after losing a controversial clash in Nottingham on Friday night.

The 29-year-old from Lincoln missed out by a whisker as referee Shaun Messer awarded Concepcion the win by a point, much to the derision of many supporters in the Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre.

Pundits and press alike, around the ring, felt Hammond had done enough to win and even Concepcion said he "would not have felt aggreived" had the contest been scored a draw.

For Hammond's reaction, read Monday's Lincolnshire Echo, priced 36p.
