Boxer Lee Swaby contemplating end of promotional career
Although the 33-year-old heavyweight says "I can never say never" the work, time and cost of promoting small shows means the event he is headlining against Dave Ingleby is poised to be his second and last.
While the costs of the show have been met and just 12 tickets remain, Swaby will make hardly any cash for actually competing.
"The problem I've got is geography," admitted Swaby, who has been Lincoln's most high-profile boxer for several years.
"Lincoln is not quite a big enough city to warrant a promoter. (Fellow promoter) Carl Greaves has quite a big handle on the city and he is fairly well established.
"As far as me being a promoter in my own right, I don't think Lincoln wants another one. I've had a taste of it during these last two shows and without television backing it's hard making everything pay for itself.
"As it stands the show is covered but I am not getting a purse. If I come out of Saturday with a win that is reward enough, but when said and done I am a professional boxer and I need to be paid."
