Amir Unsworth racks up Graham Fearn victory
The 29-year-old proved too slick for his York-based opponent, at the Doncaster Dome show, but revealed afterwards that he was worried he would see the fight through after falling ill, with a cold, on the day of the fight.
"It was a good win considering I came down with an illness," admitted the Sleaford puncher, who returns to Afghanistan with the Army later this year.
"He caught me out right at the start of the fight and for the first minute, I was worried about my fitness, but after the first round, I was okay.
"Fearn was tougher than I thought but I pressured him all the way.
"He did catch me with his head about four or five times and I split my eye in the last round, but I had four stitches in there and the wound has healed up nicely."
Unsworth wants to fight Midlands Area Lightweight title holder Steve Saville next, but with his impending trip to Asia, a potential fight may have to be put on hold.
"I would like to fight at least once before I go out to Afghanistan but I might not be challenging for the Midlands belt until the end of the year," he said.
