Contributor Tuesday March 18, 2008A STRONG FINISH
Although we lost on Saturday against Stockport I don't think that there was too much to choose between the two sides.Infact the victory could have gone either way.Stockport managed to get their goal via a deflection and my deflected shot in injury time didn't quite manage to evade their keeper.Sometimes these small details can be the difference between winning and losing but we have to take heart that this was against a top 6 side who even fancy their chances of gaining a top 3 place come May. Although you could say that we are pretty much secure of our league status for next season the last thing that we want is for the season to finish on a meaningless note. There are eight games to go and we want to get as many points as possible to ensure that we finish as high as we can. Many of us are out of contract and professional pride plays a part so there are enough reasons for us to do well from now in. My congratulations goes to Gary King who made his debut against Stockport. He has shown that he certainly has an eye for goal in his youth and reserve team performances to date and I am sure that we will be seeing more of him in time. This is yet another pat on the back for everyone who works in the Youth department. There is a great deal of unnoticed hard work that goes on with the youngsters and this goes to show that they are doing things right. Easter weekend brings a difficult physical challenge of 2 games in just 3 days. The away game at barnet is followed quickly by a really tough one at home to Hereford.we hope to do the double over barnet and hopefully get our home form back ontrack with 3 points against Hereford.
