RUN COMES TO AN END

Well every run must come to an end and it is always disappointing when it happens but the league table looks a whole lot better after 5 straight victories.Although we lost we certainly went down fighting and had it been for better finishing from me it may have been different. We all hope that tomorrow is the beginning of another run which can lift us even higher in the table.
Tomorow signals the last game for the manager before he leaves for his treatment and we all want for him to leave on a winning note.Wycombe are a good side on a decent run so we all need to put in a good performance to get anything from the game.
mant people will now think that we are safe from relegation although once we reach 50 points will be when we can be sure. The sooner we get to that point the better and we certainly don't want the season to fizzle out.

GET WELL SOON

Obviously the spotlight has been on Lincoln City Football Club this week since the announcement that our manager Peter Jackson has been diagnosed with throat cancer.Of course it is very sad news and all the players were upset when he broke it to the playing staff early last week but knowing the man I am convinced that the positive outlook he has installed into the squad will no doubt help him in fighting the illness and we all hope that he is absent for the least possible time. From his first day at the club he has regularly spoken of the belief he has in the players and we are all starting to see some of the results of this in achieving five straight victories. The league table is beginning to look a whole lot healthier recently and we all want to continue our run for as long as possible.
Against Macclesfield we created lots of chances throughout the match and to score three goals for the second time in sucession is great but if we had taken all of our chances we could have won the game by a significantly bigger margin.Part of this was down to good goalkeeping and partly down to poor finishing.
If we are to keep our run going then we will have to beat one of the top sides in League 2 in Rotherham United.Having lost to them at home not too long ago we feel that we are now better equipped to go there and get a result although we must beware because they are due to get back on track having had an indifferent run of results recently.

This week we welcomed Iffy Onura to Sincil Bank.Having lost Neil McDonald to Leeds I am sure that Iffy will more than fill his boots and continue the good work done by him.Macca contributed greatly on the training field and in my opinion played a huge part in us climbing the table. It will also be good to have someone who has had managerial experience to guide the squad in the managers absence.

BACK TO BACK WINS

It was all doom and gloom after the defeat to Mansfield last week. The manner in which we lost was even harder to swallow.Last minute goals are particularly frustrating but with it being such an important match it compounded the misery.
Many people outside the club would have therefore expected Shrewsbury to pick up an easy home victory last weekend.Although it wasn't our best display of the season by a long way, the result was a great one.It was one of the only times this season that we have won without being anywhere near our best. However it came down to being a real battle on the day with not much time to get the ball down and play and as a team we really showed strong mental qualities to grind out a win with a touch of luck, which any team needs, coming our way too. When I say 'luck' I refer to Shrewsbury missing one or two chances towards the end of the match. This is not something that has happened to us miuch this season and you could say that we earned that 'luck' with our work rate, desire and commitment throughout the game.
I would also say that Tuesday's match away at Macclesfield was a similar story. We could not have argued if we had gone in at half-time atleast a goal down with Mazza making some fine saves as well as Paul Green clearing off the line when it seemed a definate goal.A nil-nil looked on the cards until super-sub Danny N'Guessan popped up with a really cool finish to give us something to hold onto for victory. Our second goal seemed to put the result out of their reach although an uncomfortable finale was waiting for us when they scored in injury time.
So on to Rochdale at home tomorrow.A game in which we find ourselves as underdogs with Rochdale's away form being one of the best in the division and our home record being one of the worst. One thing is for sure:I will gladly take another below par performance if we earn the thre points although we all know that we are due to put on a decent display at home

Finally, our next 6 week course at The Jamie Forrester Soccer Academy begins at Cherry Willingham Comunity school on Thursday 21 st February.Anybody wanting more information can checkout the website for more details
