SPRO FOSSDYKE INDIVIDUAL LEAGUE

After an impressive first round and the continuing mild weather, the 40 anglers taking part on Saturday felt that there could be a good match ahead of them.

Skimmers, roach and perch showed throughout the match length and this week the anglers needed a weight of more than 8lb to win a section.

Once again it was pegs in the late 20s and early 30s where you needed to be, with three of the top four coming from this area.

The winner on the day was Rob Johnson (Sensas) who drew peg 30 above the "pumper" on the roadside stretch.

Rob weighed 11lb 12oz of mostly perch up to 12oz caught on lobworm and dendra.

In second place and fishing from the next peg was Dale Lynch (Trentman) who caught 11lb 5oz from peg 28.

Dale caught a real mixed bag of roach, perch and skimmers fishing bloodworm over joker and then switching to caster to take some larger specimens. Breaking the mould in third place was Tim Goldby (Grimsby) from peg 90 with 10lb 5oz and fourth place went to Chris Jenkinson (Van Den Eynde) on peg 32 with 10lb.

After the first two rounds it is Phil Chesterton (Van Den Eynde) and Lee Kerry who are winning the Pairs Competition, with three points. The current leader in the Individual competition is Phil Chesterton with a perfect 20 points from 20. The next round is on November 14, anyone interested in fishing this should contact Alan Henry on 07712 620385.

STAGS HEAD AC

The Stags Head AC held their latest match on the Fossdyke Canal on the Till Mouth section between pegs 30 and 60 at the weekend.

The victor on the day was Ken Armstrong from peg 31. Ken fished worm and had perch up to 2lb 7oz in his all perch catch of 9lb 9oz.

Second place went to Stewart Millar (Harrisons Tackle) from peg 43. Stewart had a mixed bag of small fish boosted by a perch of 1lb caught on pinkie to finish the day with 5lb 9oz.

Third position was secured by Gary King from peg 41 with 4lb 13oz and fourth place went to Daniel fox with 4lb 11oz from peg 46.

BLUE LAGOON SERIES

The third match in the series took place at the weekend and the 14 anglers that turned out found the lake covered with leaf debris which made presentation difficult.

A good late season tench helped Wesley Margett to his first win in the series. Fishing at peg one he had a few small silver fish alternating between worm and pinkie on the pole before finding his bonus fish and finishing the day with 6lb 6oz.

Dave Porter also fished the pole with pinkie and had a selection of roach and perch to finish the day with 2lb 12oz and second place.

Phil Brown finished in third position from peg seven and caught small silverfish to finish with just 1lb 10oz. The next match in the series is on November 14.

MONSON ARMS AC

Fourteen members of the Monson Arms AC visited the Upper Witham at the weekend to fish a club match.

They chose downstream of Dixon Street Bridge between pegs 116 and 130. The results recorded were very modest to say the least and only 3lb 8oz was required to secure victory for Steve Holland.

Ray Smith finished in second place with 1lb 14oz and 1lb 10oz was enough to secure third place for Campbell McMathers.

HAVERHOLME MIDWEEK OPEN

The latest match of the series was fished last Wednesday and once again it was consistent Phil Clark (Ruskington) who won this event.

Phil drew peg 20 on the day and fished the long pole with sweetcorn on the hook. He finished the day with a weight of 89lb and that was enough to beat the rest of the 15-man field. Another consistent angler in this series Dave Ferguson (Sleaford) finished in second place. He alternated between the long and short pole and between corn and pellet to land 55lb from productive peg 10.

Third position was taken by Carl Williams (Newark) who finished with 52lb from peg seven and Tim Larter (Garbolino/Harrisons Lincs County) was fourth with 36lb from peg four.

JK SUNDAY SERIES

Priory Lake Two was the venue for the latest match in this series and 14 anglers competed.

Bill Malloy was the eventual winner from peg 86. Bill struggled in the first couple of hours as he battled against the elements but once the rain stopped the fish began to feed and after only having one fish at 12noon Bill proceeded to catch steadily until the end of the match and finished with 84lb. Edgar Purnell finished second with 40lb 4oz from peg 112 and Geoff Duggan finished in third place with 39lb 12oz form peg 96.
