HAVERHOLME MIDWEEK OPEN

The heavy rainfall from last week was blamed for the poor fishing for the 11 anglers who competed in the Haverholme midweek open, with the lake rising by over an inch at the weekend.

All of the fancied pegs failed to catch on the track side of the lake and the earlier pegs seemed to be the place to be.

Phil Clark (Ruskington) continued his current good form to win this event for the second week running.

Phil drew peg 7 on the day and proceeded to fish the pole at 14 metres and alternated between corn and meat on the hook to finish the day with 67lb 3oz and a comfortable victory.

Second position was taken by R Paveley from peg 11.

Paveley also fished the pole at 14 metres and alternated between corn, meat and pellet to catch 47lb 13oz.

In third place was Carl Williams (Newark) who ended the session with 40lb 8oz by fishing the pole and the feeder from peg 23.

IMP AC

The Imp AC visited the lake at Hibaldstow at the weekend.

As it was their last match of the year, the anglers agreed that the "Golden Peg" money which had not be won throughout the season would be split between the top three places and the section winners if it wasn't won in this match.

Phil Kyme drew the Golden Peg 4 on the day but the money was safe as he registered only 3lb 3oz which was the result of his only bite of the day 10 minutes before the end of this six-hour match.

The person who went home with the healthiest wallet was John Watson.

John drew hot peg 11 and used feeder tactics with maggot on the hook to tempt two carp for a final weight of 22lb and an easy victory.

Joining John in the money was Wayne Robinson who used similar tactics to finish the day with 7lb 10oz. Third position was secured by Jim Bageley who finished slightly shy with 7lb 7oz.

Section winners were Phil Kyme with 3lb 3oz and Dusty Rhodes with only 12oz.

HYKEHAM AC

Fifteen members of the Hykeham Angling Club visited the George Fischer Lakes on Sunday to compete in a club match. John White was the eventual winner from peg 30.

John fished pellet on the eight-metre pole to take just four carp for a final weight of 21lb 8oz.

Keith Hall was runner-up with a modest 8lb 14oz.

Keith fished maggot on the pole and had one carp a few bits and an eel of 1lb in his catch from peg 25.

Third place was taken by Keith Morley from peg 19.

Keith had just one carp that took the scales to 8lb 11oz.

Can all club members please note that the next match is the Fur and Feather at Lodge Farm at Scrooby Top on Sunday November 22.

RUSKINGTON OPEN

Last week the anglers visited Manor Lake to compete in the latest match of the series.

Trev Tute (Ruskington) drew peg 20 on the day and fished meat on the straight lead between the islands to land 57lb 12oz and secure his victory.

Paul Larthwell (Skegness) took the runners-up spot from peg 22.

Paul also fished to the island but used the long pole as his method.

He finished the day with a weight of 37lb 8oz.

In third place was Dave Daniels (Ruskington) with 16lb 1oz of feeder-caught fish from peg 17 and fourth from peg 16 was Steve Davies (RAF) with 13lb. The match this Sunday is on Moat Lake, anyone wishing to fish can turn up on the day or contact Barry Gadsby on (01400) 273384.

TOM SAILS MEMORIAL TROPHY

Thirty-two anglers turned out on Sunday to compete for the Tom Sails Memorial Trophy on the Fossdyke Canal.

The canal was surprisingly clear and the fishing was not as prolific as it has been over the past couple of weeks.

Local Fossdyke ace Roger Wakenshaw (SPRO Lincoln Whisby) was the winner on the day from end peg 59.

Roger fed two lines at 6 and 10 metres with joker and fished bloodworm over the top to catch perch up to 12oz and a few roach for a final weight of 11lb 12oz.

Consistent angler and Fossdyke canal regular Chris Jenkinson (Van Den Eynde) again showed his class by taking the runners-up position from peg 36 with 7lb with the next best weight in his section being just over 4lb.

Chris fished at 6 and 11 metres and also fished bloodworm over joker to take fish up to 4oz for his weight.

Mick Gorry (Grimsby) drew end peg 69 and took advantage of this fortunate draw by finishing in third position with 6lb 14oz.

Again, 6 and 11 metres were targeted and again bloodworm over joker was the method used.

Mick had a bonus skimmer bream of one-and-a-half pounds in his catch of perch and roach.

Tom Scholey (Pole Fishing) was fourth with 6lb 5oz and Matt Godfrey (SPRO/Maver Barnsley) fifth with 5lb 10oz.

JK SUNDAY SERIES

Haverholme Lake was the venue for the latest match in the series and 11 anglers turned out to compete.

It was Edgar Purnell (Ruskington) who took the honours from peg 22.

Edgar alternated between corn and meat on the hook to take 10 carp for a final weight of 68lb.

Darren Balham (Stags Head) took second position from peg 11.

Darren only had a few bits with an hour and a half of the match remaining when his peg came alive and he finished the day with 56lb 6oz.

Third on the day was Dave Ferguson (Sleaford) with 38lb 3oz from peg 11.

Dave caught six carp on meat in the margins for his weight.
